UNC Health Care and Rex Healthcare unveil UNC Physicians Network

July 17, 2012

Morrisville, NC – The community physicians affiliated with UNC Health Care, including Rex Healthcare, UNC Hospitals, UNC Physicians and Associates, and Chatham Hospital, are adopting a new network name to better reflect their commitment to provide quality services for all North Carolinians. Triangle Physician Network, which was established in 2010, has become UNC Physicians Network (UNCPN).

“This reflects the enlarging geographic breadth of our community physician network beyond just the Triangle,” said Dr. Allen Daugird, president of UNC Physicians Network. “The change is also part of an evolving system-wide branding strategy for UNC Health Care.”

UNC Physicians Network supports 34 practices and more than 150 providers. The framework gives physician practices the operational support needed for doctors to do what they do best – provide high-quality patient care – and allows physicians more time to focus on prevention, wellness and improving patient satisfaction and outcomes. To achieve these goals, the practices coordinate with UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Rex Hospital in Raleigh, Chatham Hospital in Siler City and other facilities to give patients convenient access to robust specialty care services. UNC Physicians Network practices also work closely with the specialty physicians of Rex Healthcare and UNC Physicians and Associates.

The changes will not affect day-to-day operations of the expanding network and patients won’t see anything different beyond the new name.

“We look forward to enhancing the lives and health of patients in more communities across North Carolina,” said Dr. Robert Gianforcaro, executive medical director of UNC Physicians Network.

While the network was initially focused on the Triangle, the new name will resonate with patients as it expands into other parts of the state. The new name and logo come with a new website that will serve as a resource for patients, with information on physicians, practices and more: www.uncpn.com.
