Hummus. So healthy, so delicious.
That’s why it’s a highlight of UNC REX Heart & Vascular‘s Kardia Cafe, where our award-winning chefs have free reign to pursue their vision of “a hotel style food experience within the walls of a hospital,” to use the words of UNC REX’s Culinary and Nutrition Director, Ryan Conklin.
Kardia Cafe’s hummus is both inspired and simple to make at home.
Here’s how to do it.
The Best Hummus
|Canned Garbanzo Beans||5 cups|
|Fresh Lemon Juice||2/3 cup|
|Whole Garlic Cloves||1/3 cup|
|Kosher Coarse Salt||1 tbsp|
|Black Pepper||1 1/2 tsp|
|Extra Virgin Olive Oil||1 cup|
Take the garbanzo beans (aka chick peas), drain them, and rinse them.
Put the rinsed garbanzos in a blender. Add the rest of the ingredients. Blend into a coarse paste.
